Calgary Flood

At the end of June we got a lot of rain and the snow in the mountains melted quickly which put Calgary and surrounding towns in a state of emergency. I am very proud to be a Calgarian at this time. It is overwhelming to hear of the stories of kindness from others. In High River people were being rescued by combines! I laughed when I saw that. The power to the downtown core was even turned off. Even the saddledome flooded. It was seriously a crazy time in the city.

A cop car was caught of the flash flood while trying to get people evacuated.
The peace bridge.
Wrigley really enjoyed the sunshine and going out see what was going on.
I dropped off a few supplies and it was amazing to see how much had been donated. Go Calgary Go!

A friend from work's house was flooded. I spent one day helping clean and gut basements. The next day we attempted to clean pictures and salvage what we could.
Below is Bowness in the middle of being cleaned.
I was very impressed with how Mayor Nenshi handled everything. He had some hilarious statements. Please enjoy this video and remember, don't be a Nenshi noun! Go purple pride!
