August Party: Take 4

After a heat wave all Summer it finally poured rain when we were all together. That didn't slow us down and trekked out to Banff. 2017 marked Canada being 150 years old so they made National Park passes free. This mean that the parks were so busy. Even the rain didn't keep all the people away!
We had been having so much fun that Jack was able to fall asleep mid drink on the way there.
Testing out what it would be like to have twins!
Hiked Johnston Canyon and saw both the Upper and Lower falls.

Hiking at almost 37 weeks! I definitely got some looks and thank goodness for the heat wave because my high school grad hoody was the only coat that fit me. Definitely hoped I would go into labour but I got nothing more than a few Braxton Hicks. Jack was an intermittent hiker. Tim was a trooper and carried him a bulk of the way. We definitely need to get out more next Summer and increase his stamina!
Our entire crew. My mom and Paul showed up half way through and were able to catch us on the way back. Jack was pretty jazzed to see Paul again and ran right past my mom! Thank goodness we had Denton because he had some random food at the bottom of his bag that motivated our hikers to make it to the end.
The rain eventually stopped and the sun made an appearance which made the rest of the day fairly enjoyable.
We then headed over to Moraine Lake.
Due to the heat there were some bad forrest fires this year. The lake was so pretty but the smoke was unreal!
The more agile members of our group climbed some rocks to be able to have better view. It looked a little sketchy so Muffy, myself, Ollie, Jack and Harper stayed behind. The boys tried to feed a chipmunk and we enjoyed people watching the tourists.

We finished off a magical day at the Banff Hot Springs. The water felt awesome after being cold for most of the day. I definitely need to go to Banff more often.
The next day the sun was out in full force and we were finally able to go to Calaway Park. Exhausting but so much fun. Danielle has been trying to go to Calaway every summer but it is always a thunder and lightning storm. It was a fabulous day as the weather was predicted to be cool but we lucked out and there was a hot sun and very little crowd.
My sisters are way cooler than yours. This wasn't planned. All in jean shorts, dollar drink and converses with sunglasses on and ready to tackle the day.

These three kids did all the big rides. They did most of them happily but were forced into a few by Erin and Tannis. Thank goodness Erin and Tannis have stomachs of steal and weren't pregnant or nursing. Somebody had to keep up to these crazies and it definitely wasn't going to be the husbands. They are a little weak when it comes to rides!
Jack thought this place was magical. Before each ride to check that everybody was ready they ride attendant would have everybody give a thumbs up. Jack couldn't do and would just point his finger up.

So exhausted and fell asleep with food falling out of his mouth.
We ate lunch at one of the outdoor shows. Jack was in heaven and thought it was amazing. He danced the entire time and eventually made his way to the front.
 Cousins are simply the best.

Carl had no fear and was the bravest little rider ever. She was sad when she was too short for some of the big rides but made the best of it.

Matching shirts was the best way to end the summer. FaceTime will have to keep me sustained until the next time we are all together. I sure am lucky to call these ladies my sisters.
